The following are the core beliefs of Fellowship Church.By no means are these a comprehensive list. These are the foundational beliefs that all others originate from.
The Bible …is the written word of God. “Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” 2 Peter 1:20,21 …is our source of authority for belief and practice. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”2 Timothy 3:16,17
Salvation - Humanity’s need... “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23 “For the wages of sin is death…” Romans 6:23 - God’s provision... “For God so love the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”John 3:16 “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”Romans 6:23 - The choice... “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God – children born not of natural descent or a husband’s will, but born of God.”John 1:12,13 “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”Romans 10:9,10 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.”Ephesians 2:8,9
Baptism - It is obedience... “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”Matthew 28:19 - It is an outward expression of an inward commitment and change... “When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other Apostles, ‘Brothers, what shall we do?’Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ…”Acts 2:37,38 - It is to be done by immersion... “And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.”Acts 8:38,39
The Holy Spirit - Seals us... “…Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit…” Ephesians 1:13 - Fills us... “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery.Instead, be filled with the Spirit.”Ephesians 5:18 - Equips us... “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”John 16:13 - Empowers us... “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you…” Acts 1:8
Authority - God:Source of all authority. “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.”Colossians 1:9 - God’s Word:The Bible. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”2 Timothy 3:16,17 - God’s Delegated Authority:Leadership. “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” Romans 13:1 “Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account.Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage toyou.”Hebrews 13:17
Giving Giving of both tithes and offerings to the work of God in His church. Note on tithing: It is 10% of a person’s income. “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”Malachi 3:10 - It is an expression of obedience to God and trust in God. - It is to support the local church. - It is separate from offerings given. - It is accompanied by a promise of both testing & blessing.
Ministry -Serving others with the abilities and power that God provides in your life through the Holy Spirit. -Serving Others... “You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.”Galatians 5:13 -Abilities... “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.To one there is given through the Spirit…”1 Corinthians 12:4-8a Power... “To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me.” Colossians 1:29 Offices of the Church... “It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”Ephesians 4:11,12
